Research

Dr. Zhongyuan Yu builds smart and interactive data-driven decision support systems. Dr. Yu has a focus in healthcare settings and defense acquisitions, applications include decision support systems for health management, impact of healthcare policies relative to public health outcomes such access to care, evaluation of healthcare provider networks, chronic disease management, health care operations, and risk detections.

General Information

Dr. Zhongyuan Yu is a Teaching Associate Professor in the School of Systems and Enterprises at Stevens Institute of Technology and a member of Center for Complex Systems and Enterprises.

Dr. Yu brings more than 10 years of extensive software prototype developing expertise and her research crosses multiple disciplines including applied statistics, optimization, data visualization, simulation, natural language processing, network analysis, and socio-economics.

To date, Zhongyuan’s work has led her to build smart and interactive data-driven decision support systems. Her current research centers on understanding and managing complex systems in healthcare settings and defense acquisitions. Zhongyuan’s ongoing research on how organizational processes, advanced techniques and technologies and policy affect software development and system performance.

Dr. Yu has presented her research findings in national and international conferences such as INFORMS, Academy Health, CESUN and JSM, and delivered hundreds of presentations to executives and senior managers in public sectors and private industry, including Northwell Health, Emory Healthcare, North Shore-LIJ Health System, CareFirst BlueCross BlueShield, UnitedHealth, Bell Labs, MITRE and others.

Dr. Zhongyuan Yu holds a Ph.D. in System Engineering from Stevens Institute of Technology, M.S. in Operations Research and M.S. in Industrial Engineering from Georgia Institute of Technology.
